We love math at Breakaway! But we also understand that not all students share this love. Using a combination of their classwork, online resources, and our own materials, your student will build a strong math foundation and gain confidence in his or her numerical and analytical abilities. And we do our best to make math fun.
We have experience with Common Core Standards, Everyday Math, Singapore Math, Saxon Math, and Khan Academy across the following grades:
Elementary Math (grades 3 - 5)
Students are building the foundation for future math success in elementary school - learning addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to solve problems. Being successful requires both memorization and critical thinking. Fractions, decimals, geometry, and statistics are also introduced in elementary school as part of the common core curriculum.
Middle School Math (grades 6 - 8)
In middle school, students start to work with some more difficult concepts such as ratios, proportions, percents, statistics, geometry, and pre-algebra. Interestingly, a significant portion of the ACT and SAT math tests are on material learned during these middle school years.
High School Math
Students who take four years of math in high school will learn algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, and calculus. Grades are now more important and part of your "permanent record". One-on-one instruction can really help students to understand and master these more challenging math courses.
